Overview
(NASDAQ: DDOG · $287.29 ▼ 2.0%) Datadog is a monitoring and security platform for cloud applications, delivered as a service to developers, IT operations teams and business users. It brings together data from servers, containers, databases and third-party services so that teams can observe their whole technology stack in one place. Observability tools of this kind collect metrics, traces and logs in one place, which matters as applications spread across many cloud services and become harder to diagnose with separate tools.
The product range starts with infrastructure monitoring, covering containers, Kubernetes, serverless functions, networks, storage, GPUs and cloud costs. Beyond that core, Datadog offers application performance monitoring, log management, database monitoring, real user and synthetic monitoring, and software delivery tools such as CI visibility and feature flags. Its security line includes code security, cloud security posture management, workload protection and a cloud SIEM, while its Bits AI agents are designed to chat about, investigate and remediate issues. Combining security and observability in one platform reflects a wider industry move toward DevSecOps, where engineering and security teams work from shared telemetry instead of separate consoles.
The company states that these capabilities help DevOps teams avoid downtime, resolve performance issues and maintain the user experience their customers get. It markets solutions to sectors including financial services, healthcare and life sciences, retail, government, education, gaming and media, and supports monitoring on AWS, Azure, Google Cloud and Oracle Cloud as well as hybrid and on-premises environments. That breadth across clouds lets buyers use one platform during cloud migrations or when consolidating several monitoring tools, two use cases the company addresses directly. Datadog also hosts events both online and in person.
