Overview

(NYSE: SNOW · $360.37 ▼ 2.3%) Snowflake is a cloud data platform company that delivers what it calls the AI Data Cloud, a global network in which organizations discover, share and analyze data. The platform runs as a fully managed service across multiple public clouds, which reduces the time customers spend building, configuring and tuning their own infrastructure. This places Snowflake in the cloud data warehousing and analytics category, where enterprises consolidate data that would otherwise sit in separate, siloed systems.

Its platform covers data warehousing, data lakes, data engineering, data science, data application development and data sharing. Product areas include data engineering pipelines, analytics, AI and machine learning models, applications and collaboration, and transactional workloads, alongside two AI agents: Snowflake CoCo, a governed coding agent, and Snowflake CoWork, a personal work agent. The Snowflake Marketplace lists ready-to-use data and applications, reflecting the emphasis on securely sharing governed data between organizations.

Snowflake reported 12,062 global customers as of July 31, 2025, and serves industries including financial services, healthcare and life sciences, manufacturing, retail and consumer goods, telecom and the public sector. Published customer stories include Under Armour, Novo Nordisk, United Rentals, Booking.com and Fanatics, and the company also works with partners and data providers. Booking.com, for example, migrated away from Hadoop to modernize its data and AI, a common path for organizations replacing older big data systems with cloud platforms.

The company's founders built its data platform from scratch to harness the cloud, and Snowflake has more than 10,000 employees in over 40 offices worldwide. Its offering includes unified security, governance, observability and disaster recovery regardless of cloud or region, a priority for regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare. Its stated values include putting customers first, integrity, thinking big and ownership.
