Overview
Miro is a software company that offers a collaborative online workspace where teams and AI agents think, decide and build together. The company calls its product an Innovation Workspace built around an Intelligent Canvas, an infinite, multiplayer surface for shared work. Its stated thesis is that, as AI speeds up work, the harder problem for organizations is turning individual output into scaled impact rather than simply doing more. Miro sits in the visual collaboration category, often called digital whiteboarding, which grew as distributed teams needed a shared space to replace physical walls and sticky notes.
Beyond the canvas, the platform includes formats such as Docs, Tables, Slides and Diagrams, Blueprints for automating repeatable processes, collaborative AI workflows, more than 6,000 templates and connections to over 250 apps. Teams can pull outputs from research tools such as Claude or NotebookLM onto one board, review them together and feed insights back into roadmaps, specs or new prompts. Taken together, these pieces aim to keep research, roadmap planning, diagramming and workshops on one shared, secure canvas, so that context is not lost as work moves between tools.
Miro serves more than 100 million users across 250,000 customer organizations, including Salesforce, Asos, Deloitte, WPP and Cisco. Typical uses include product development, strategy, service design and process management; because large enterprises tend to scrutinize security before adopting shared tools, the company presents its platform as enterprise-grade and scalable.
The company was founded in 2011, when its founder's design agency needed a way to share ideas with clients who were not in the same room; that first iteration, called RealtimeBoard, later evolved into Miro. Miro employs about 1,600 people in 13 hubs, with offices in cities including Amsterdam, Austin, Berlin, London, New York, San Francisco, Singapore, Sydney, Tokyo and Yerevan.
