Overview
Adyen is a financial technology company, listed on Euronext Amsterdam under the ticker ADYEN, that provides end-to-end payments capabilities, data-driven insights and financial products to businesses through a single global platform. Aimed at enterprises, the platform runs on a centralised stack, integrates through one API that supports multiple use cases and channels, and includes built-in optimisations intended to improve conversion, reduce fraud and lower payment costs. This single-stack approach contrasts with the common enterprise setup of stitching together separate gateways, acquirers and fraud tools, which can complicate reconciliation and reporting across markets.
Adyen's Intelligent Money Movement offering lets businesses accept payments, settle funds and send automated payouts globally, with in-person payments among its use cases. Alongside it, Embedded Finance allows businesses to embed payments, accounts, card issuing and capital through a single integration and offer them to their customers under their own brand. Embedded finance is typically adopted by marketplaces and software platforms that want to earn revenue from financial services offered to their own users.
Adyen works with large companies including Meta, Uber, H&M, eBay and Microsoft, and serves customers across a range of industries. The company holds banking licences in the US, UK and EU, has 29 offices worldwide and reports 99.999% historical platform uptime. Its platform supports more than 150 currencies and over 200 local payment methods, and processes around €1.4 trillion a year. Support for local payment methods matters in cross-border commerce, since in many markets shoppers prefer domestic options such as bank transfers and digital wallets to international cards.
