Overview

(NYSE: ASAN · $9.89 ▼ 1.8%) Asana is a work management software company whose platform helps organizations bring people, processes and AI together to plan, track and deliver work. Work management tools of this kind sit between simple task lists and heavier project portfolio systems, giving teams a shared record of who owns what and by when. The company describes its product as an operating system for human-agent teams, built on its Work Graph® and 18 years of multiplayer architecture. In Asana's model, AI handles routine busywork while humans stay in the loop to guide decisions.

The company's Agentic Work Management offering brings together AI Studio, Asana Dash, MCP and AI Connectors, and AI Teammates, pre-built agents that draw on shared memory and context from the Work Graph. Each agent is given an identity, scoped permissions, an audit trail and cost constraints, managed from the same console that governs human users, a design aimed at the governance concerns enterprises typically raise before deploying AI agents. Other products include Asana Service Management for IT, HR, facilities and legal teams; Asana Client Management for agencies; Command by Asana; and StackAI by Asana, a drag-and-drop builder for agentic workflows.

More than 170,000 organizations, including Accenture, Amazon, Anthropic, Morningstar and Suzuki, use Asana for critical work, and the company states that, as of December 2023, 85% of Fortune 100 companies used it, counting free and paid users. Headquartered in San Francisco, Asana also has offices in cities including Chicago, New York, Vancouver, Dublin, London, Paris, Munich, Warsaw, Stockholm, Reykjavik, Tokyo, Singapore and Sydney. The company was started by engineering leaders from Facebook who wanted to reduce the time skilled staff spent on meetings and status updates, and it frames its mission as helping humanity thrive by enabling teams to work together effortlessly.
