The BambooHR platform covers hiring and onboarding, HR data and reporting, payroll and time tracking, benefits administration, employee experience, performance management and compensation planning. Its payroll product is an add-on that includes payroll reporting and full-service tax filing, and the software also provides an applicant tracking system, salary bands, benchmarking data and a built-in AI layer called Bamboo AI. The company offers more than 150 pre-built integrations and a mobile app, and it describes itself as an HR software provider rather than a PEO or outsourcing provider.

Customer data is hosted in the United States, Canada or Ireland, and the security measures include encryption, annual third-party SOC II audits and annual penetration tests. The company keeps its support team entirely in-house.
