Overview
Volkswagen Group is an automobile manufacturer headquartered in Wolfsburg, Germany, with operations around the world. The group is made up of ten brands from seven European countries: Volkswagen, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, ŠKODA, SEAT, CUPRA, Audi, Lamborghini, Bentley, Porsche and Ducati. These brands are organised into Core, Progressive and Sport Luxury brand groups that operate independently while sharing synergies within the group. A multi-brand structure of this kind lets a single parent cover segments ranging from volume passenger cars and commercial vans to luxury vehicles and motorcycles, while sharing platforms and development costs across them.
Alongside its brands, the company runs business units and financial services, and it sells vehicles in 153 countries. It operates 111 production facilities in 16 European countries and ten countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa, with around 663 thousand employees worldwide. The group reports 9.0 million deliveries and sales revenue of 321.9 billion EUR for 2025.
Its stated goal is to make mobility sustainable through electric drive, digital networking and autonomous driving, aiming to keep the car a basis for individual and affordable mobility. This direction is formalised in "The Group Strategy – Mobility for Generations", a roadmap running to 2035 under which the company aims to become what it calls "The Global Automotive Tech Driver". Across the industry, established carmakers are shifting investment from combustion engines toward electrification and software, a transition shaped by tightening emissions regulation in Europe and other markets. Its governance rests on a Board of Management and Supervisory Board, guided by seven group principles known as the Volkswagen Group Essentials.
