Overview
Magnum Photos is a collective of acclaimed, independent photographers who share an ongoing commitment to documenting world events, people, places, daily life and culture. Founded in 1947, Magnum Photos has been telling stories of the past, defining the present, and shaping the future through photography for over 75 years, united by its values of uncompromising excellence, truth, respect and independence.
Magnum Photos provides commissioning services and image licensing to a global client base of media platforms, publishers, cultural institutions, brands and advertising agencies. The Magnum Photos archive is a living library with regularly updated content from all over the world. It counts 600,000 digital images and a print archive of 1 million photographs.
Beyond licensing, Magnum Photos runs the Magnum Store, which sells photobooks, posters, prints and merchandise from its photographers. Magnum Photos also has a gallery aimed at fine print collectors, covering online and offline exhibitions, photography fairs and gallery events. Through Magnum Learn, the company offers aspiring and practicing photographers workshops, free online events and on-demand courses. It also publishes editorial content covering arts and culture, news, and photographic theory and practice, including interviews with its photographers, material from the archive and a book club.
