Overview

Southern California Edison is an investor-owned public utility and a subsidiary of Edison International. As one of the nation’s largest electric utilities, we’re bringing more clean and renewable sources of energy to Southern California. The company delivers power to 15 million people across 50,000 square miles of central, coastal and Southern California, a service area of more than 180 incorporated cities and 15 counties that excludes the City of Los Angeles and some other cities. SCE was incorporated in 1909 and was formed through the mergers and acquisitions of many small predecessor companies dating back to 1886.

From energy storage to transportation electrification, our employees are working on innovative projects that will help cut emissions and greenhouse gases to provide cleaner air for everyone. The company's electricity system includes 125,000 miles of distribution and bulk transmission lines, 1.4 million electric poles and 142,000 transmission structures. Customer programs include CARE and FERA discounted rates, one-time bill assistance through the Energy Assistance Fund, and electric vehicle rebates for income-qualified customers.

We have diverse teams, made up of inventors, doers and problem solvers. The people here at SCE don't just keep the lights on. The mission is so much bigger. We are fueling the kind of innovation that is changing an entire industry, and quite possibly the planet.
