Overview
(NYSE: COUR · $5.07 ▼ 1.7%) Coursera is an online learning platform launched in 2012 with a mission to provide universal access to world-class learning, and it had 197 million registered learners as of December 31, 2025. The company works with more than 375 university and industry partners, including Google, IBM, Microsoft, Stanford University and the University of Michigan, to offer flexible, job-relevant learning to individuals and organizations. Under this model, the platform supplies distribution and technology while partner institutions supply the content and credentials, setting it apart from providers that produce all of their own material.
Its catalog ranges from hands-on projects and individual courses to Specializations, Professional Certificates and online bachelor's and master's degrees from accredited universities. Subject areas include business, artificial intelligence, data science, computer science, healthcare and language learning, and a Coursera Plus annual subscription gives unlimited access to thousands of programs. Generative AI-powered features such as Coach, Role Play and Course Builder, along with role-based Skills Tracks, are designed to help instructors, partners and companies deliver scalable, personalized and verified learning.
Institutions use the platform to upskill and reskill employees, students and citizens in fields such as GenAI, data science, technology and business, while individual learners use it to advance their careers. For organizations, Coursera for Business comes as Coursera for Teams, priced per user for smaller businesses, and Coursera for Enterprise, which adds analytics, integrations and skills benchmarking under custom pricing. Employers and governments typically buy such programs to close skills gaps at scale without building training content in-house.
Coursera is a Delaware public benefit corporation, a legal form that requires it to weigh public benefit alongside shareholder interests, and a certified B Corp. Both fit its stated belief that access to learning is a right rather than a privilege.
