Overview

Redwood Logistics is a fourth-party logistics (4PL) provider headquartered in Chicago, Illinois, that combines logistics execution with supply chain technology. Unlike a 3PL, which mainly carries out transport or warehousing, a 4PL typically coordinates multiple providers and systems on a shipper's behalf, acting as an orchestration layer over the whole supply chain. The company offers digital freight brokerage, flexible freight management and supply chain integration, and describes its model as an open Logistics Platform as a Service in which customers can mix and match services, partners and technologies without lock-in.

At the center of its technology offering is RedwoodConnect, a no-code, cloud-based integration platform with a drag-and-drop design canvas that lets customers connect existing systems and add functions as they grow. Integration of this kind addresses a common pain point for shippers, whose transportation, warehouse and trade systems often come from different vendors and must be stitched together before data can flow across the network. The company's 4PL services also include engineering and solution design, TMS, WMS and GTM implementation and integration, API pipeline design, supply chain orchestration, carrier and trading partner connectivity, and access to composable freight tech.

Redwood works with shippers, carriers and channel partners, and its customers range from Fortune 500 companies to small businesses buying spot freight across sectors such as CPG, retail, food and beverage, manufacturing, healthcare, automotive and building materials. Its roughly 1,000 associates are split about evenly between logistics operations and supply chain technology, and it operates across North and South America, with over 115 technical and operational resources in Brazil, Colombia and Mexico plus partners in EMEA and APAC. The company was founded in 2001 as Transportation Solutions Group, has offered 4PL solutions since 2010, and has grown both organically and through acquisitions.
