JH Kelly, LLC

JH Kelly, LLC is a fourth-generation, family-owned construction company based in the Pacific Northwest. It provides HVAC and plumbing services to commercial facility owners and works as a self-performing industrial general contractor at process plants across the greater region. A self-performing contractor uses its own craft workforce for most trades instead of subcontracting them out, which gives it more direct control over schedule, quality and safety on complex jobs.

Beyond industrial construction and mechanical work, the company offers electrical construction, instrumentation and controls, a UL 508 panel shop, and 24/7 emergency service and preventative maintenance for commercial, multi-family residential and industrial properties. It has invested in fabrication facilities, and its off-site manufacturing covers plumbing, pipe, electrical and sheet metal fabrication as well as modules. Prefabricating components in a shop lets contractors shorten field schedules and limit on-site labor, which matters most during planned plant outages.

Its industrial work includes round-the-clock shutdowns at paper mills along the Columbia River and turnarounds for refineries in northern Washington and Montana. The sectors it serves also include data centers, healthcare, higher education, food processing, semiconductor, power and renewables, and its project list ranges from data center maintenance in Hillsboro to a food waste anaerobic digestion facility. Pairing new construction with ongoing service and maintenance work is a common way for mechanical and industrial contractors to balance project-based revenue with recurring income.

Founded in 1923, JH Kelly has grown from a dozen plumbers to more than 1,500 employees while staying family-owned. The company describes safety as a core commitment, has received national safety awards and credits its project teams' planning and execution for a loyal customer base.
