Overview
Since 1949, Hoosier Energy has been more than an energy provider—we’ve been a trusted partner in building stronger communities. Working in partnership with our member distribution cooperatives, we proudly serve more than 700,000 consumers in central and southern Indiana and southeastern Illinois. Hoosier Energy is a cooperative that supplies power through 17 member electric cooperatives, covering a 15,000-square-mile area. These member cooperatives distribute energy to more than 285,000 homes, farms and businesses.
The company's energy strategy focuses on diversified generation facilities and a resilient transmission network, and it is expanding its renewable energy program. Hoosier Energy also runs an economic development team that helps businesses find sites and buildings, with resources that include a tax abatement calculator and information on target industries. Hoosier Energy offers a memorial scholarship, and its member cooperatives award college scholarships to local students, many funded through Operation Round Up, a program that lets members voluntarily round up their monthly electric bills.
