Overview
EJF Real Estate Services, Inc. is a community association management firm serving condominiums, cooperatives, homeowner associations and townhome communities across Washington DC, Maryland and Virginia. The company traces its origins to the 1920s, when the namesake of the Edmund J. Flynn Company introduced housing cooperatives to Washington, DC, and that firm was involved in developing or converting many of the area's cooperative and condominium buildings. In 1996 the Flynn Company's real estate and property management departments branched off to form EJF, named to honor its parent, while the parent company provides settlement and transfer services and keeps ownership records for hundreds of cooperative associations. That lineage matters in the District, where co-op owners hold corporate shares rather than deeded real estate, which calls for expertise distinct from condominium management.
EJF offers full-service management with a locally based community manager and an assigned backup, remote management delivered through the Vantaca platform, and Fiscal Plus, a financial-only option for self-managed communities with AI-assisted invoice auditing. The company also provides project management, reserve cash management, loans, developer services, payment solutions, rentals, sales and maintenance. Tiered service models like these let volunteer boards choose how much day-to-day work to delegate, balancing hands-on attention against cost.
The company manages more than 650 associations and over 35,000 units from four regional offices: a main office on U Street NW in Washington and offices in Newport News, Leesburg and Charlottesville. Its staff hold broker, salesperson and property manager licenses, most managers carry Community Associations Institute designations such as CMCA, AMS and PCAM, and the firm holds CAI's Accredited Association Management Company designation. EJF frames its work as a continuation of the Flynn Company's personalized service and ethical business practices, and it publishes guidance for boards on budgeting, compliance and DC energy benchmarking.
