The company began as a small equipment rental business in Phoenix, Arizona, and has since grown to serve customers from the southeast to the northwest, with branches in states including California, Colorado and Tennessee. Phoenix is home to its Service Center and Training Facility, and in its Metro service areas a centralized dispatch model lets customers reserve equipment from any regional location with a single call.

Its rental fleet covers aerial equipment, earth moving machines, compaction and paving, pumps, trucks and trailers, and trench safety systems. Sunstate also sells used equipment, runs an Industrial Solutions Division for petrochemical, oil and gas, manufacturing and utilities projects, and offers forklift and aerial work platform operator training. Its Navigator platform lets customers reserve or call off equipment, move rentals between sites, set alerts and run custom reports.
