Nationwide began as a small mutual auto insurance company owned by policyholders who farmed in Ohio, and it remains accountable to its members. Its vehicle coverage extends to snowmobiles, classic cars, ATVs, RVs, personal watercraft, scooters and golf carts, and its property lines include renters, condo and flood insurance. The company also offers umbrella, identity theft and long-term care coverage, along with usage-based auto programs called SmartRide and SmartMiles.
For businesses, Nationwide provides businessowners policies, general liability, workers' compensation, agribusiness coverage, reinsurance and alternative risk transfer, and employee benefits such as group benefits, self-funded health, medical stop loss and voluntary pet benefits. Customers can view policy documents, pay bills and access ID cards through the Nationwide Mobile app, and they can find local agents and financial professionals.
