HITT began in 1937 as W.A. HITT Decorating Co., a small family-owned business run from a home in Arlington, Virginia, and its first job was an enclosed porch in Falls Church, Virginia. The company later moved from decorating into house construction and commercial work, adopting the HITT Contracting name in 1989. Its headquarters at 2900 Fairview Park Drive in Falls Church, Virginia, is LEED Silver certified, and the company also operates Co|Lab, an innovation facility certified LEED v4 BD+C Platinum.
