Overview
Florida Eye Institute is an ophthalmology practice based in Vero Beach, Florida, that has provided medical, surgical and routine eye care to residents and visitors of the Treasure Coast since 1985. The practice opened a second location in Sebastian in 2015 and also has an office in Fort Pierce, serving patients across Indian River County and beyond. Eye practices of this kind often bring specialist physicians, an on-site surgery center and optical services together, so patients can move from diagnosis to treatment and eyewear without changing providers.
Florida Eye Institute's specialty services cover cataract, glaucoma, macular degeneration, diabetic eye conditions, corneal issues and dry eye, alongside general eye exams, contact lens fitting, custom eyewear, low vision evaluation and iLASIK refractive surgery. Cataract treatment includes bladeless, laser-assisted surgery, and door-to-door transportation is available on surgery day. The 25,000 square foot facility contains 30 patient examination rooms, an AAAHC and Medicare certified outpatient surgery center, a Retina Center, a Cataract Center, an Aesthetics Center and the Optical Gallery. The practice welcomes over 2,000 new patients a year and performs over 1,200 surgeries. Cataracts and macular degeneration become more common with age, so cataract surgery and retinal care typically account for a large share of the work at general ophthalmology practices.
Care is delivered by board-certified ophthalmologists and an optometrist, supported by a staff of over 75 employees. The company describes its approach as expert care in a warm, friendly atmosphere and organises its work around four core values: compassion, quality, integrity and efficiency. Over 40% of staff have spent more than 5 years with the practice, a level of stability that can support continuity of care for patients with chronic eye conditions.
