Overview
Affiliated Dermatology is a full-service dermatology group in the greater Phoenix area offering general dermatology, skin cancer detection and treatment, Mohs surgery, aesthetics and allergy services. Founded in Arizona in July 2002 and led by Arizona physicians, the company has grown to eight locations. These include offices in Scottsdale, Anthem, Deer Valley, Surprise, Gilbert, Tempe and Old Town, and it also provides mobile dermatology services for senior communities.
Clinical care covers medical and pediatric dermatology for patients from infants to the elderly, along with cosmetic services for men and women and several options for allergy testing. The company has a team of Mohs surgeons and several fellowship-trained dermatopathologists, along with a private in-house dermatopathology lab that is CAP-accredited and CLIA-certified. In Mohs surgery, skin cancer is removed in thin layers that are each examined under a microscope during the procedure, while dermatopathologists are specialists who diagnose skin disease from biopsied tissue. Affiliated Dermatology welcomes new patients, accepts most insurance plans and has same-day appointments available. Patients also have access to an in-house dispensary for prescriptions and products, complimentary aesthetic consultations and Spanish-language service.
Beyond patient care, the company created a residency program in 2011 to train new healthcare professionals and help meet increased demand in Arizona, and it contributes to the post-graduate education of physicians through a fellowship program. Its providers offer free skin cancer screenings and sunscreen education across Phoenix and surrounding areas in conjunction with the Arizona Skin Cancer Foundation, and Affiliated Dermatology sponsors a number of schools and organizations. Ultraviolet exposure is a major risk factor for most skin cancers, which gives sun protection and early detection particular relevance in a sunny desert region such as greater Phoenix.
